This position requires an energetic and dedicated individual who is committed to helping adults and out-of-school youth reach college and career goals. Working under the direction of the Lafayette Adult Resource Academy and the Assessment Assistant, will help enforce all local, state, and federal policies regarding testing, scoring, and re-testing both online and paper/pencil assessments.  Assistant will help track and file all required paperwork and notify students and teachers of test results.  They will be trained and required to adhere to administration policies and keep up-to-date on relevant policy changes.

In addition, the assessment assistant will:

  • Register, set up, and proctor various state assessments for basic academic skills, English language learning, and the high school equivalency exam (TASC)
  • Ensure that all students are adhering to testing procedures
  • Accurately record test data
  • Maintain confidentiality of students and program information
  • Become familiar with all adult education tests; TABE, CLAS-E, TASC, and ParaPro
  • Learn the data management system (InTERS) to report enrollments, testing, attendance and to monitor program performance if instructed by the site coordinator
  • Learn LARA’s performance metrics and attend staff meetings and training
  • Use existing technology effectively in the performance of duties
  • Be responsible for making appointments, reminders and contact to reschedule when needed.
  • Perform other work as required


  • Paraprofessional Certification/associate degree or higher
